Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice announced as Charity of Choice for 2015

L-3 TRL has chosen the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham as our Charity of Choice for 2015. The decision was made by employees via a company-wide vote.

Employees across the business are being encouraged to organise various events throughout the year to raise as much money as possible; activities such as a sponsored cycle ride, bake off and triathlon have already been scheduled. Every penny raised will be matched by the company at the end of the year, increasing the total amount donated to the Hospice.

“As part of our CSR strategy, we support a local charity to enhance our engagement with the community” said Carly Hill, Marketing Director at L-3 TRL. “As a local Hospice, Leckhampton Court is close to the hearts of many L-3 TRL employees so we’re keen to do all we can throughout the year to raise as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause."

The Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses in Gloucestershire, working with GPs, district nurses, families and carers to improve quality of life, assess and manage symptoms and provide support. Their services include: a 16 bed inpatient unit, Day Hospice facilities three days per week for up to 20 people per day, a Hospice at Home service and a family support bereavement service.

Carly and members of the company’s Charity Committee recently visited the Leckhampton Court Hospice where they were given a tour of the historic house and grounds and saw first-hand the excellent facilities and high quality of care the team provides.

Sandra Flannagan, Day Hospice Manager, showed them the Day Hospice’s new treatment and therapy rooms. She explained how they are developing their services and are now able to offer onsite blood transfusions along with other clinical treatments, which allow patients to retain their independence for as long as possible.

Commenting on the partnership, Kathleen Barnhill, Corporate Fundraiser for the Hospice said: “We are delighted that L-3 TRL has chosen us as their Charity of Choice partner for this year.  The company Charity Committee visited us just before Easter and were able to see the facilities and gain an insight on the valuable services we offer the local community.  Your support is vital to us to maintain and grow our services.”
