Principal Engineer - Compliance

Summary of Position

Take responsibility and ownership for EMC, Product Safety including qualification on military projects across the company, and take ownership of the Company processes in these areas

Main duties of this position

• To be the “Company Expert” on design for EMC performance
• Supervision or assistance with qualification including E marking
• Assist in the preparation of technical documentation relating to DEF STAN and MIL specification product/ system qualification
• Drive company processes such that EMC compliance and product/systems safety is enshrined in the design life cycle
• Central point on Product and System Safety issues across the company
• Represent the company at customer/external EMC and Safety working groups
• Maintain current company EMC and Safety knowledge up to date including but not limited to changing legislation
• Co‑ordinate Compliance Test activities across the Company. 
• Advise on design for Compliance Test in Projects supporting problem resolution throughout the design life cycle
• Manage Test House relationships and provide assistance to project external test activity
• Any other activity as reasonably required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential:

• 5 years experience in electronic design for Compliance (EMC Safety) within military projects
• Intimate knowledge of EMC/Safety compliance specifications and test procedures
• Sound working knowledge of Def Stan, MIL Std, CE, E Marking, LVD etc

 

Desirable:

• Degree preferred, however experience will be considered in lieu
• Knowledge of product design lifecycle
