Tewkesbury-based L3 TRL Technology raises £11k for local children’s charity

A year of fundraising by staff at L3 TRL Technology has raised over £11,000 for the James Hopkins Trust who care for young children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses at their base in Gloucester.

Across the company, employees took part in a range of fundraising events, activities and endurance events throughout the year including TRL’s very own cycling team taking on the ‘Tour of Flanders’ raising a total of £1,159.50 for their 141km journey across the short, sharp hills in the Flemish Ardennes. Meanwhile a companywide charity raffle during TRL’s annual Christmas party raised an extra £1,756.

By the end of the year the total raised by staff amounted to £5,827 superseding the target of £5000. With TRL matching donations pound-for-pound, the grand total came to £11,654 to donate.

Sarah James, Head of Fundraising at James Hopkins Trust said: “L3 TRL have shown such enthusiasm, commitment and energy for the past twelve months, from taking on personal sponsored challenges, to working as a team and creating entrepreneurial ways of raising funds. L3 TRL’s hard work has raised a phenomenal £11,654. This means each of our 100 children have had two respite sessions paid for by L3 TRL! We thank them so very much for changing our world this year and making such a huge contribution to the emotional and practical support we provide Gloucestershire families who have a young life limited and life threatened young child”.

TRL’s Corporate Social Responsibility lead Byron Price said: “Knowing that this donation will make a difference to all the children and their families who James Hopkins Trust supports makes every penny worth it. CSR is at the heart of what we do at TRL, raising money for James Hopkins Trust has been a complete privilege for all of us”.

Established in 1989 and based locally in Gloucestershire, James Hopkins Trust provides care for babies and children up to the age of five who have a life threatening or life limiting condition whilst supporting their families. Since its beginning, the charity has helped with care for over 500 children and their families either at the family home or in their specially built respite centre. It is currently the only charity in Gloucestershire to offer this level of care with services such as day and night respite care by fully trained nurses and family support.

Each year staff at TRL nominate a ‘charity of choice’ as the focus for fundraising activities throughout the year, with employee donations match-funded by the company. The charity of choice initiative is part of TRL’s corporate social responsibility strategy.

With 30 years of experience at the forefront of technological development, L3 TRL is an official supplier to Her Majesty’s Government, and part of the Cyber Growth Partnership (CGP).

Based in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, the company produces innovative products that safeguard people and information around the world from terrorist threats.
