L3Harris’ TRL Technology announces move to new headquarters

Tewkesbury-based defence and cyber security business TRL Technology is to combine its 350 staff into a new single headquarters.

The move to the 40,000 square foot building marks a multi-million pound investment in the firm’s future in the town which employs a mix of software and hardware engineers and programmers.

The company, a subsidiary of the US-based defence company L3Harris, will move from its four current sites into one new facility located at Tewkesbury Business Park in the heart of the M5 Growth Zone close to junction 9.

TRL has been based in the town for over 35 years developing and delivering lifesaving military personnel protection solutions, government grade cyber security and specialist intelligence networks to a range of governments and agencies in over 25 countries around the world. Its solutions are used in a wide range of missions including counter terrorism, border security and peace keeping. The building has been named Spectra House reflecting TRL’s work utilising the electromagnetic spectrum in delivering its solutions.

Richard Flitton, Vice President and General Manager of TRL Technology said: “We have put collaboration and innovation at the heart of the design of our new building as these are key to staying ahead of the ever-evolving threats to global security and delivering on our mission to make the world a safer place.

“Our new home will offer a modern working environment for our extremely talented staff with ample car parking, social and collaboration spaces and a customer experience centre where we can showcase our solutions.”

A key consideration in the investment in the new premises has been sustainability. As well as a reduction in power and heating consumption by consolidating into one building, it also features rain water harvesting and solar technology. Low power daylight LED lighting, electric vehicle charging points and the introduction of milk dispensers, which will eliminate the use of over 3,500 plastic milk bottles per year.

The company is moving into the new facility in phases and plans to complete the move by mid-2020 with a grand opening ceremony to follow shortly afterwards.
