Tewkesbury-based L3 TRL Technology raises £13,800k in aid of local innovative Suicide Crisis Support Center

After a fantastic year of fund raising, Richard Flitton General Manager of L3 TRL Technology has presented ground-breaking local charity Suicide Crisis with a cheque for a grand total of £13,800.

Last year staff from across the company took part in a range of fundraising events and activities from raffles to bake sales, barbecues to fancy dress days. The end result was an incredible £6,900 raised, with this figure then doubled by TRL.

Based in Cheltenham, Suicide Crisis offers support to people feeling suicidal or in crisis triggered by a traumatic experience. The charity has a team of trained counsellors and provides access to advisors and psychological therapies.

As well as a 24 hour walk in centre for anyone in Gloucestershire who is feeling suicidal, the charity also runs a Trauma Centre to provide early intervention, because people who experience trauma-related conditions (such as PTSD and dissociation) are at higher risk of self-harm and suicide. On receiving the cheque, Joy Hibbins founder of Suicide Crisis said: “This amount raised and the effort made by everyone at TRL is incredibly moving and will make a real impact on the service that we can offer”.

TRL’s Corporate Social Responsibility lead Byron Price said: “This total will make a big difference to a small local charity like Suicide Crisis and the incredible work they do to support people in times of crisis. Fundraising throughout the year for a charity close to our hearts is a key part of the culture at TRL and supporting a local charity that has broken new ground in the support offered to people in preventing suicide. .

Each year staff at TRL nominate a ‘charity of choice’ as the focus for fundraising activities throughout the year, with employee donations match-funded by the company. The charity of choice initiative is part of TRL’s corporate social responsibility strategy.
