TRL presents cheque for £11k to Maggie’s

Last week, Anna Mason from Maggie’s, our 2019 charity of choice, came into TRL to be presented with a cheque for £11,024.18, following a year of fundraising across the business.

Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. Located right next to Cheltenham General Hospital, the Maggie’s Centre has professional staff on hand to offer the support people need with advice about benefits and healthy eating as well as qualified experts providing emotional support and a place to meet other people.

Anna, said: “We are so grateful to everyone at TRL for their hard work raising such a fantastic sum over 2019. This will make a real difference to the work we do at Maggie’s supporting people with cancer and their families in the local area.”

This year’s fundraising has been as energetic as ever and has  included cycle rides, BBQ’s and bake sales, beard having and gunging’s. TRL’s Corporate Social Responsibility lead Byron Price said: “So many of us have been directly or indirectly affected by cancer, it makes it a pleasure to lend our support to a charity like Maggie’s. Fundraising throughout the year for a charity close to our hearts is a key part of the culture at TRL.”

Each year staff at TRL nominate a ‘charity of choice’ as the focus for fundraising activities throughout the year, with employee donations match-funded by the company. The charity of choice initiative is part of TRL’s corporate social responsibility strategy.
